I designed a pavilion intended to be placed in Shanghai, my hometown, in order to bring the younger and older generation of people together. The pavilion is inspired by older Chinese pavilions called 亭子, often found in parks and filled with local elderly having lunch in groups or playing poker or mahjong. In my design, I tried to incorporate modern projections and architecture into the older pavilion design. Added interactive projections hopefully peak interest in the younger generation, allowing the spot to be a space for both generations to exist. The pavilion is ultimately designed as a hotspot (网红) location that will attract young people but will also allow the elderly space for public dancing (广场舞) and continue their daily afternoon poker games.
