Graphite on Bristol, 14" x 16"

This graphite drawing was a response to the abundance of self-portrait assignments given to me and my peers during our time as art students. I just didn't want to draw my face anymore and wanted to hide beneath another type of myself: the objects I use to identify myself. I like to collect rings, but for what purpose other than identity? Vanity? Then again drawing my face, again and again, feels a bit vain to me. I guess they ended up achieving the same purpose.
